Dena Lague

Dena trained at Millenium Dance 2000 and was awarded Most Outstanding Contemporary Dancer upon graduation. Dena has been working as assistant choreographer on the production of Brown Bomber, Cultural Olympiad, Julian Joseph and Sheron Wray. Most recently Dena performed as part of the New Adventures Company 25th Anniversary Season of Nutcracker and before this Cinderella. Dena performed Dance:Radio for Drywrite choreographed by Ann Yee, Latitude Festival 2010. Dena devised the role of Sandra Grubb in Matthew Bourne’s Edward Scissorhands. In 2004 she was awarded the Dance UK Gulbenkian bursary for assistant choreography. Dena is a movement director working alongside the director Emma Rivlin on a number of operatic productions that include the Grimebourne Season at the Arcola Theatre, the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and the first UK staging of Fiesque in association with UCLU, Bloomsbury Theatre. Dena co-choreographed Walk The Talk for Wales National Youth Dance Company and has acted as assistant Artistic Director for JazzXchange Music & Dance Company.  She is the long-term assistant to Sheron Wray and has performed with her company Jazz Xchange Music & Dance Company, collaborating with Wynton Marsalis and Bryon Wallen in the original production of Lucky For Some. Dena played a part in the editing process of the company’s education programme Special Request. Dean’s film credits include: Mrs Henderson Presents, which starred Dame Judi Dench and was directed by Stephen Frears; The Space Inbetween directed by James Herbert; soloist on Motion Capture Animation in Special Request; Shift directed by [SEL] Live.
