Rachel is a Dance Artist and Visual Performer based near Brighton. Her work is immersive, participatory and situational with a mix of everyday and stylized theatrical aesthetics. She works with movement, film, interactive performance and installation, questioning ‘performance’ and the ‘performance space’. Her work is often a research into how performance develops in response to the environment created and the people that inhabit it for a set time. Sometimes working in a one to one situation that adapts, responds to and integrates the viewer whilst focusing on the play of proximity between audience and performer and the direction of the gaze.
Rachel is currently a commissioned artist at Chisenhale Dance Space as part of Dance and the Homemade 2012. She has devised and performed with companies such as The Karavan Ensemble, Transient Dance Theatre, The Bus Show and Practising Space. She also works in a collaboration called The Twin Factory, a duet working in film and performance in both the UK and Sweden.
Rachel has performed in and devised work for theatres and various site-specific and site-responsive settings such as Jackson Lane Theatre London, The Basement Brighton, Ludwig Museum Cologne, The Nightingale Theatre Brighton, and has regularly performed in the Brighton Festival and Fringe.
